A Hollywood Stock Exchange that tracks box office projections for live trading may launch on April 20.
Trade daily The Hollywood Reporter said the exchange, aka HSX, sought approval from the government body for exchange listings – the US Commodity Futures Trading Commissions – last November.
Imagine being able to buy stock in a James Cameron (pictured) epic ahead of its debut weekend. A spokesman said the exchange was “on track” to launch on the slated date.
The HSX would list current and pending movie releases with projected four-week domestic grosses to allow exchange traders to take short positions on the movies. To date, a HSX site allowed only the mock exchange of trades on movies.
Ellen Pompeo has joined the growing list of celebrities finding baby joy at 40.
The Grey’s Anatomy star and mother of five-month-old Stella Luna said she would not have it any other way.
“Career women tend to get pregnant late and I have to say I would never have done it any other way. I have the best of both worlds and I don’t feel like I’ve missed anything.”
Pompeo spoke to People Magazine about finding happiness – or something “close to” it.
“I am over the moon. Happiness is not that easy to achieve, but having a handsome husband, a beautiful baby and a great job helps.”
Pompeo, 40, took only a month off work on Grey’s, hiding her pregnancy under scrubs gowns and medical files so she could appear on the show. She hit the gym often after Stella’s birth, gaining only one jeans size. Amazingly, she managed to eat chocolate ice-cream through her maternity leave. “I have energy and more strength, which I need because that baby is getting heavy,” she joked.
Pompeo, who has two seasons left as Meredith, plans to quit Grey’s once her contract is up, however. She said:”I will raise my daughter, buy a house in Italy, learn Italian and teach it to my daughter. I love buying houses and redoing them, and I’ll have that and my wonderful husband [Chris Ivery] and my baby.”
Alice In Wonderland director Tim Burton had to walk a mile through icy west London to a TV interview after his car got stuck in traffic.
The eccentric auteur decided to take matters into his own hands when the freezing winter weather caused chaos on the city’s roads.
He was travelling with the film’s star Johnny Depp, who decided to sit it out in the chauffeur-driven car to get to the BBC studios where they were to be filmed for the Jonathan Ross chatshow.

The infamous movie turkey Showgirls is back as a sequel – and it looks to have just as much sex and nudity as the critically panned original.
A little-known German filmmaker has made Showgirls: The Return 15 years after the first movie starring blonde beauty Elizabeth Berkley as a pole dancer.
The online trailer is packed with naked flesh, including two beauties romping on a bed, a woman crawling out of a hot-tub before she is murdered with a dumbbell, and pole dancing.
In Showgirls 2 a stripper dies from an overdose and her brother travels to Germany to exact revenge.

Astro Boy star Kristen Bell says she still has the dreaded ‘Never going to work again’ syndrome despite having a successful career.
The 29-year-old actress has appeared in movies such as Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Couple’s Retreat as well as playing Elle Bishop in TV series, Heroes.
She told the UK’s S magazine: “I’ve had a great ride these past couple of years, but I definitely have that ‘Never going to work again’ syndrome.
“Those negative thoughts are constantly swirling in my head, and I don’t think they ever really go away. But I’m very grateful for my career, and I’m very ambitious, very determined.”
Naomi Campbell took the night at the UK Elle Style awards when she accepted an Outstanding Contribution award.
Prime Minister Gordon Brown’s wife, Sarah, presented the prize to recognise Campbell’s 25 years in the fashion business as one of the world’s top models. Campbell’s work with a group that educates on pregnancy, The White Ribbon Alliance, was also recognised, the Sun newspaper reports.
Campbell, 39, the newspaper reports, was all smiles as she picked up the award in a stunning outfit.
Dannii Minogue, the X Factor darling who recently announced her pregnancy, was awarded with an Elle TV Star prize. Her famous sister, Kylie, was on hand to present it.
Dannii said: “I’ve just gone stage one with the wardrobe where no jeans fit. Can’t get any of them on and you buy jeans with stretchy bits at the front. The rest, I don’t even know how it works. I really don’t know how I’m going to approach any of it yet.”
Elle also recognised BAFTA winners Colin Firth and Carey Mulligan with best actor and actress prizes while celeb wattage such as Alexa Chung and Leona Lewis looked on. Claudia Schiffer took the model of the year award.

Diff’rent Strokes star Gary Coleman has stormed out of a TV interview shouting “f**k you” at presenters.
The pint-sized actor was invited on to The Insider to talk about his alleged violent relationship with his wife, Shannon Price.
When Coleman, who is facing a domestic violence charge in the US, was asked by guest panellist Lisa Bloom, “did you lay a hand on her?” he replied, “you know what? You can go to the same place.”
Gesturing to the other panellists, he then added: “The next thing I am going to do is leave. F**k all of you. You and all of you.”
He then stormed off the set, walked out of the studio and made an obscene gesture to a following camera crew as he got into his waiting limo.
Bloom later said: “Well, this is what cross examination in court is like. If you are asked questions you don’t want to answer, you have to hide and hide and obfuscate and eventually he couldn’t take the heat.”
Former Dance Your Ass Off star Marissa Jaret Winokur has revealed she wants to have more children.
The 37-year-old became a mum for the first time when her son Zev was born via a surrogate 19 months ago.
She revealed that it would be nice to have another: “Of course. I’m actually really happy with just my one son, but I can’t imagine my son growing up without any siblings.
“I’m the youngest of four. I have a really supportive family. For my son, I want him to have what I have with my siblings.”
She married Judah Miller in 2006 and added that he is just as open to adding to their family.
She said: “We are the yin-and-yang, man. He is the perfect balance. He’s calm and he’s sweet, and when I look at my son and my son does something sweet and calming, I’m like: ‘That’s my husband.’”
Allison Janney, 50, of West Wing fame has been swamped with TV offers.
Janney signed on for a recurring co-starring role opposite Matthew Perry on ABC’s comedy pilot Mr Sunshine and a pivotal recurring role opposite William H. Macy in Showtime drama pilot Shameless. Now she will guest star on the USA Network drama series In Plain Sight.
Janney will play a US marshal who runs into conflict with a character played by Mary McCormack. Rita Moreno, Steven Weber, Tess Harper and Josh Cooke will also appear in the two episodes.
Janney, a vivacious redhead, has also won top-calibre film roles, including a part as a lesbian lover opposite Meryl Streep in The Hours.

Actress Courtney Thorne-Smith of Ally McBeal fame will make a comeback to sitcom with a potential recurring role on Two and a Half Men.
The wildly popular show, which features Charlie Sheen as the perennial bachelor with an unabashedly tasteless sense of humour and his nerdy brother and nephew, has been in the news of late due to Sheen’s personal troubles with his wife Brooke.
The Hollywood Reporter says Thorne-Smith, who starred alongside Calista Flockhart as Georgia Davis in the long-running McBeal and appeared on Melrose Place, will play the part of Lindsay – a girlfriend to the second of the Two, Jon Cryer.
Thorne-Smith for eight seasons played Jim Belushi’s wife on the ABC comedy According to Jim. She recently starred in the Lifetime Movie Network film Sorority Wars.

Ryan O’Neal slammed Kate Jackson’s claim that he blocked her from seeing the late Farrah Fawcett during the final months of her life when she was dying of cancer. The actresses were co-stars on the longrunning TV series Charlie’s Angels.
O’Neal told RadarOnline the claims were “not true”. Fawcett died on June 25 last year after a long battle with cancer.
He said: “Firstly, Farrah spent the last week of her life in the hospital. Secondly, why would Kate be denied access to Farrah and then be invited to her services?”
Jackson said that O’Neal and Fawcett’s best friend, Alana Stewart-Hamilton, denied her access to Fawcett. She also claimed to be concerned Fawcett was forced against her will to sign a document handing over control of the harrowing documentary she made about her journey with cancer.
Jackson, 61, said she last saw Fawcett at a gathering held in February 2009 for Fawcett’s 62nd birthday.
Meanwhile, O’Neal’s representative, Arnold Robinson, said: “Mr O’Neal’s only wishes are for Farrah to rest in peace and for her contributions and legacy to be remembered by the millions who loved her.”

Actress and performance artist Bai Ling says getting topless comes with the territory.
Ling, 43, who came to the US from China, was once a teen troupe performer for the People’s Liberation Army in Tibet.
She said of going topless: “That is part of the job. You have to sell magazines. Sometimes, as an actor, part of our job is to be a clown. It’s just fun for people to help them get through their lives. During heavy work you need some delightfulness [sic].”
Ling admitted her red-carpet wardrobe malfunctions were carefully orchestrated. Little-known outside film circles, she has appeared in a handful of indie and Hollywood flicks, including Red Corner with Richard Gere and Wild Wild West with Will Smith, as well as posing for Playboy magazine. She said: “If photos of my nipples give a little smile to others, that is my duty. In exchange, I get to enjoy the luxuries of being an actress.”
Nancy Kerrigan vowed to help her brother Mark in the wake of a homicide ruling in her father’s death.
Mark, 45, was alleged to have got into a fight with his father Dan at the family home, before he died of a heart attack.
Nancy said in a statement obtained by TMZ: “We plan to help my brother fight.” Citing her father’s many qualities and a 2,000-strong turnout on the day he was buried, she said her father had been an “ultimate role model” to his sons, the “guy they tried to emulate”.
Dan’s death at 70 followed a heart attack that the medical examiner ruled a homicide following a physical altercation.
Kerrigan said she was about to travel to Vancouver to fulfill her duties for Entertainment Tonight and that her father would want her to carry on her life as usual. “My dad would want us to go forward with strength and a smile – he is with us every step of the way,” she said.
She reiterated her family’s earlier condemnation of the homicide ruling, saying it was a “ruling by the way which we think was unjustified and which we plan to help my brother fight.”
Mark was charged with assault and battery in late January following the death of his father.
Sam Worthington, star of blockbuster Avatar, was caught fighting with his girlfriend ahead of Valentine’s Day weekend, the Daily Telegraph reports.
Worthington and stylist Natalie Marks were having a “moment” over drinks last week at North Bondi hotspot Italian. Marks reportedly stormed off when things escalated.
The rained-out simmering weekend probably didn’t help. Worthington slipped into Sydney on a break from the back-to-back movie role existence he keeps up in Los Angeles.
He was in Melbourne and spotted at the Imperial Hotel in trendy Chapel St, South Yarra last Friday. He was also seen midweek having a beer at Mother’s Milk, also in Chapel St.
The Daily Telegraph ran the comment of an eyewitness, who said: “I was extremely lucky to see him and have a nice chat on Wednesday. I spoke to him about Avatar, how I appreciated his performance and how enjoyable the movie was. Sam was a gentleman.”
