Anna Nicole Smith case doctor turns up to court after judge’s arrest warrant threat

One of the doctors accused of supplying prescription drugs to tragic Anna Nicole Smith turned up to court late after a judge had threatened to have him arrested.
Dr Sandeep Kapoor failed to show up at the Los Angeles court for an 8.30am hearing on Monday, although his co-defendants Howard K. Stern and Dr Kristine Eroshevich were there.
His attorney claimed Kapoor, 40, was missing because of a medical emergency involving one of his patients who is in a hospice.
But the judge ruled the excuse unacceptable and ordered an arrest warrant to be issued for Kapoor if he did not make it to court by 11am.
Kapoor eventually arrived in time and was ordered to re-appear at a preliminary hearing with his two co-defendants on August 12.
All three defendants are accused of supplying a variety of prescription drugs to Anna Nicole that allegedly led to her death in 2007.
The judge is expected to decide at the next hearing whether or not there is enough evidence to move the case to trial.
