Pink Is Seventeen Magazine’s February Cover Girl

Filed under: Celebrities, Fashion, Love, Magazine Covers, Pink, Style, Weddings — Beyotch January 5, 2009 @ 7:49 pm

Pink is on the cover of the February 2009 issue of Seventeen that will be out on newsstands January 6. She looks fantastic and shared her thoughts on some personal questions they asked of her, it’s so nice hearing that she has only good things to say about her ex and that they are on good terms.

On how it feels to have “So What” become the break-up anthem of the year and also her first number one song:

It feels very confusing. It’s bittersweet. It’s funny, it’s empowering, it’s ‘Screw you,’ it’s all of that. It’s amazing to be number one but it’s ironic that it took [Carey Hartand I] breaking-up to get there. It’s a testament to how often people break-up, because everyone can relate to what I’m saying.

On her relationship with her ex-hubby Carey:

It’s up and down. You have strong moments and you have weak moments. But it’s not just been devastating - it’s been freedom, too. I told him that I would give him away at his next wedding.

On where her “meanness” comes from:

My brother and I fought alot when we were kids. We were very violent. He could always beat me physically but I could always beat him with words. And you learn how to survive by how you are as a kid and can just be really mean. I can cut people down. I don’t like to. I don’t want to be like that anymore.”

Taylor Swift Is 2008 Best Selling Artist

Filed under: Album, Money, Music, News — Beyotch January 4, 2009 @ 7:41 pm

Taylor Swift is 2008’s best-selling artist with more than 4 million albums sold, followed by AC/DC, Lil Wayne and Coldplay. Sugarland finished No. 8 according to Nielson SoundScan.

Swift had two albums on Nielsen’s Top 10 sales list: her self-titled debut at No. 6 and her sophomore album “Fearless” at No. 3.

Scott Borchetta, president and CEO of her label, Big Machine Records said:

“Taylor Swift is a great artist development story that started as organically as you can in the digital age. It involved online, non-stop radio tours and strategic TV opportunities which led to non-stop touring. But - most importantly - Taylor connected with her fans like no other artist in 2008.”

The top selling digital artist was Rihanna with 9.94 million tracks sold, followed by Swift and Kayne West.

Interestingly, as digital downloads rose, vinyl album sales did as well. In 2008, more vinyl albums were purchased (1.88 million) than any other year since Nielsen SoundScan began tracking sales in 1991.

Ashlee Simpson-Wentz and her hubby Pete have happy memories when it comes to 2008. When asked about getting married to the love of her life and becoming a mom, she said:

“It was the greatest year of my life.”

She and husband Pete were together sipping champagne and enjoying a special night out in Las Vegas, one of their first nights out since having their baby this past November. The newlyweds and new parents were celebrating New Year’s Eve at Pure Nightclub.

She told reporters:

“I don’t know if I can have high expectations for 2009 because 2008 was so good.”

They even brought the baby with them to Vegas. He was napping in the hotel with a babysitter. She went on to say:

“He’s the best thing that ever happened to me.”

Pete Wentz took to his blog to share his top 9 fav things of 2008:

my top 9 favorite things of 2008 looking forward to 2009:

1. Street artists being recognized as legitimate contemporary artists.

My personal current favorite is: kaws (throw shephard, banksy, reas, greg simpkins, romanelli and a bunch of others in there). these were guys i jocked in graf magazines and its cool to see them get recognition from the rest of the world.

2. “Sooner or later” - n.e.r.d.

its a jam. PH is a dude who makes music/art to make music/art and for no other reason. i back that.

3. The fall.

if I could recommend one movie this year this would be it. this took four years to film and 18 different locations. honestly one of my favorite films ever.

4. Watching john mayer doing van halen better than van halen in an amphitheater in southern california.

shirts optional, solos mandatory.

5. Getting married to the only person in the world who could put up with someone like me.

6. The curious case of benjamin button

its weird that i put this on both lists but the truth is you cant deny finchers eyes for film. also, i give it to brad pitt for picking interesting roles. the idea of this narrative is mind blowing and at times i fell for the story.

7. FBR_TRASH

and the like. because i love the haters. there is something in me that gets that. i like it if its witty, if its faster than me. if you burn me. i dish it alot, i deserve to take it some too. (which member do you think i am? i like you. you are the wild west).

8. the polaroid “zink”.

just after i began hording all of my polaroid film they come out with this thing. its sweet- you take the camera phone pic and instantly have the picture printed. only a matter of time before its on a phone or a digital camera (im looking at you japan).

9. bronx mowgli wentz

i have no words to describe how amazing he is.

its gonna be tough to top this all in 2009…

with music biz going down the tubes, i cant say i care because it was being run in a lousy way. strange to say because either its gonna come back from cardiac arrest with people like Lil Wayne proving everyone wrong or someone is gonna is gonna finally turn it into a zombie with a new idea. i feel it coming and want to be a part of it. i only appreciate this in the way that it is forcing people to get creative and think outside of the box- pop is getting weird again, i love it….

im gonna put up some of your top fives when i get my new computer (ahem, patrick…) apparently all the comments on the last post cause my computer to crash every time i view them.

Here is a photo from the new movie still via EW of Beyonce in Obsessed, out in theatres April 24.

”We did look at girl fights on YouTube,” says director Steve Shill of his research for the film. ”There’s a lot of hair pulling, shouting, and rolling around on the ground. We didn’t really want to do that.”

Obsessed is about the successful career of asset manager Derek (Idris Elba), his gorgeous wife Beth (Beyonce) and their son. They are put in jeopardy when temp worker Lisa (Ali Larter) starts stalking Derek.

A Fashion Divo

Twilight’s, Cam Gigandet, (he played James) is seen here waiting for his girlfriend who was shopping at Barneys. Love the kilt and boots… love the pose. Only a man with major confidence can put together an outfit like that and still look hot.

Barneys is The place to show off such a stylish look. Apparently Cam created a mini-sensation and I can totally see why… wonder what’s in his man purse?

A Little Affection

Filed under: Britney, Celebrities, Fashion, Hairstyles, It Girls, Lindsay Lohan, Love, Music — Beyotch December 30, 2008 @ 6:50 pm

Here are Samantha and Lindsay hugging in a parking lot the other day. I love Lindsay’s boots, SaMans… not so much.

I’m wondering if the two lovebirds are pretending to ignore the paps that are 2 feet away, snapping photos of this random moment of “genuine” affection.

After Lindsay’s daddy dearest Michael Lohan told PEOPLE he was “99 per cent” sure Samantha had penned the blog where ‘Lindsay’ outed him for keeping a third daughter, the result from an affair a secret, Samantha responded:

“Ha! That’s funny, but I don’t ghost-write MySpace blogs. Good thing he left that one per cent window open so he wasn’t 100 per cent wrong for once.”

Zooey Deschanel Gets Engaged To Ben Gibbard

Filed under: Album, Love, Movies, Music, News, Weddings — Beyotch December 29, 2008 @ 7:36 pm

Yes Man, Elf, The Happening and 500 Days of Summer, actress Zooey Deschanel got engaged earlier this month to Ben Gibbard, the lead singer of Death Cab for Cutie and The Postal Service. Deschanel is also a musician and singer for the group She & Him.

They have been dating for almost a year, and shared the stage together — dueting on a cover of the Everly Brothers’ “Dream” — at an Obama fundraiser this past August.

Deschanel’s She & Him released their debut album on indie stalwart Merge Records earlier this year. Gibbard’s Death Cab released a string of albums on tiny Barsuk Records from 1998-2004 as well as the ultra-successful Postal Service album Give Up on Sub Pop in ‘03 until making it big with 2005’s Plans.

Congrats to Zooey and Ben!

London plans to honour Sir Elton John, by having a street named after him. He is after all, one of their most famous residents.

A local programme has plans in the works to celebrate local heroes. Susan Hall, the vice president of the council, truly admires the singer and musician. She explains:

“He is a real showman. He came from humble beginnings and it shows that if you have talent and drive you can become as famous as him.”

Simon Le Bon and Billy Idol are also being considered for the same honour.

Diva Mariah Wants Her Privacy When Flying

Ever the diva, Mariah Carey had the audacity to ask British Airways to bump 16 ticket-holders so she could pre-empt their reserved seats and fly Heathrow-JFK with her posse of 10 just so they could have the privacy of several empty-but-paid-for seats.

The airline flatly refused, says My Spy: “That’s outrageous! We can’t bump SIXTEEN people with just two days’ notice!”

No is not in her vocab apparently because she ended up chartering a private jet.
